12th International Conference on Multiphase Flow (ICMF 2025)

From 11–16 May 2025, the MODERATOR project was proudly represented at the 12th International Conference on Multiphase Flow (ICMF 2025) in Toulouse, France, one of the leading global events for experts in fluid dynamics and thermal management.

Our partners from the Process Technology division of SINTEF presented their latest research on CFD modelling of the charging and discharging behaviour of a thermal energy storage unit for domestic applications using Phase Change Materials (PCMs). This work contributes directly to MODERATOR's efforts to develop and optimise thermal energy storage solutions that can be integrated into waste heat recovery systems for data centres.

By applying CFD simulations, the SINTEF team is helping to improve understanding of how PCMs perform under realistic conditions. These insights play a vital role in ensuring the reliable and efficient reuse of waste heat in future energy-efficient data centres.

We congratulate the SINTEF team — Kristine Søfteland, Heiner Schümann, Loïc Duffo, Halvard Thon, and Galina Simonsen — for sharing their expertise and advancing the scientific foundation of the MODERATOR project at this prestigious international event.
