1st Meeting of the Epirus Living Lab

On 28 September 2024, an introductory presentation of the MODERATOR project was held in Demati, Ioannina, during the first meeting of the Epirus Living Lab, where our partners from Electra Energy Cooperative are actively involved.

The meeting marked the launch of the Epirus Living Lab initiative, which aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and community stakeholders to explore sustainable development opportunities in the Epirus region.

During the session, the MODERATOR project was presented to participants, highlighting its goal of reducing the carbon and energy footprint of data centres through technologies such as immersion cooling, waste heat recovery, and thermal energy storage, while also promoting greater social participation in the development and operation of digital infrastructure.

The meeting provided an opportunity to gather initial feedback from the field and to start shaping the social dimension of MODERATOR’s activities. Key topics included defining social objectives, identifying community needs, and establishing preliminary metrics for assessing social impact within the project.

The MODERATOR project looks forward to continued collaboration with the Epirus Living Lab and other regional stakeholders to ensure that technological innovation goes hand in hand with sustainability, transparency, and community engagement.
