2Cool2Waste Webinar: From Prototype to Market – Innovative Heat Recovery and Cooling Technologies

Date: 13 October 2026 | Time: 13:00–15:00 CET | Format: Online
The 2Cool2Waste cluster is bringing its projects together again for a second joint webinar, this time focusing on a very practical question: how can promising heating, cooling and waste-heat recovery technologies move from research and demonstration towards real-world use?
Under the title “From Prototype to Market: Innovative Heat Recovery and Cooling Technologies”, the webinar will feature short presentations from projects working on different parts of the same challenge, from data-centre heat recovery and industrial cooling to heat pumps, thermal storage and integrated energy systems.
What will be presented
The programme brings together HEATWISE, HyCool-IT, RE-WITCH, THUNDER, SEEDS, SUSHEAT, MODERATOR, SENERGY NETS, GEOSYN and EXQUISHEAT. Each project will share a different perspective on how thermal energy can be recovered, managed and put to better use.
The presentations will cover topics such as waste heat from data centres and industry, sustainable cooling, industrial heat pumps, thermal energy storage and the integration of these technologies into wider energy systems.
MODERATOR’s contribution
MODERATOR will be represented by Dr Akrivi Asimakopoulou, who will present:
“Waste heat reuse from Data Center immersion cooling: applications and end-use opportunities.”
The presentation will look beyond the recovery of heat itself and focus on where that heat could actually be used.
Within MODERATOR, potential end users are being identified and assessed across several sectors, including industry, district heating and cooling, greenhouses, land-based aquaculture, algae production, thermal desalination and energy communities. The aim is to better understand how recovered heat from immersion-cooled data centres can be matched with real thermal demand.
Why join
One of the strengths of the 2Cool2Waste cluster is that its projects are at different stages of development and are approaching the same broader challenge from different angles. This webinar is a chance to compare those approaches, hear what is already being tested and discuss what is still needed to bring these solutions closer to wider deployment.
Participation is free.
