4th Plenary meeting of MODERATOR in Serres on February 4-5
MODERATOR Holds 24-Month Plenary Meeting in Serres, Greece
The MODERATOR consortium gathered in Serres, Greece, on February 4–5, 2026, for its 24-Month Plenary Meeting, bringing together partners from across Europe and Switzerland to review progress and align the next steps of the project.
The first day focused on comprehensive updates across all Work Packages, covering immersion cooling system development, waste-heat recovery technologies, prototype design and validation, system simulations, sustainability analysis, dissemination activities, and IPR management. These sessions provided an important opportunity to assess technical achievements and ensure strong coordination across the integrated components of the MODERATOR system.

The second day connected research with real-world practice through industrial visits in Northern Greece. Partners visited hydroponic greenhouses in Drama, a district heating co-generation plant in Serres, and an industrial dehydration facility. These visits showcased potential end-users and practical environments where recovered waste heat from data centres could be effectively reused in agriculture, district heating, and industrial processes.
The plenary meeting reinforced MODERATOR’s core vision: transforming data centres from energy consumers into contributors to local, circular energy systems through immersion cooling, thermal storage, and waste-heat reutilisation.
The consortium thanks all partners and hosts for two highly productive days of collaboration and exchange.
