CERTH (Thessaloniki, GREECE)
CERTH was founded in March 2000 and is the leading Research Centre in Greece and in SE Europe. CERTH combines unique research facilities and highly qualified research personnel, to transform scientific knowledge into innovative technological applications, aiming to convert knowledge into innovation-led growth and respond to societal needs.
The main roles of CERTH in MODERATOR will be to manage and coordinate the project, to support in the design and evaluation of the immersion cooling system, to simulate the integrated system and its dynamic response and contribute to the generation of feasible/alternative integration scenarios and to assess the technology in terms of the technoeconomic and LCA analysis.

SYNAPSECOM (Athens, GREECE)
Synapsecom Telecoms S.A. is a dynamic and innovative company, established in 2007, operating in the telecommunications, data center, and information technology sectors. Renowned for its adoption of cutting-edge technologies and adaptable services, Synapsecom focuses on scalability and flexibility to meet the evolving demands of its industry. Through its spinoff brand Coolblock, Synapsecom produces advanced immersion cooling systems for data centers. Additionally, Synapsecom is a prominent Data Center Operator in Greece, with extensive experience in building and managing data centers. In the MODERATOR project, Synapsecom plays a crucial role by designing and manufacturing an immersion cooling system tailored to specific requirements, particularly for heat reuse applications. This system will be installed and operated at Synapsecom's Athens Data Center (SNC2), providing a near-production environment for project partners to work with and evaluate the system in a real-world setting.

HYSYTECH (Torino, ITALY)
HYSYTECH is an engineering company founded in 2003, specialized in the design, development and industrial implementation of new turn-key process technologies and equipment.
The main role of HYSYTECH in the project will be the integrated prototype construction and demonstration. Therefore, it will carry out the design of an surplus energy recovery system (organic Rankine Cycle) to produce power from the heat energy that is not being stored in the PCM or used for local water heating. HYSYTECH will also assemble and integrate the overall pilot systems (ORC, PCM , immersion cooling) and develop a control strategy that optimizes the utilization and storage of the energy rejected from the data center.

SINTEF (Trondheim, NORWAY)
SINTEF or "The Foundation for Industrial and Technical Research" is one of Europe’s largest independent and non-profit research organizations. SINTEF mainly develops innovations from TRL 2 to 6, exploiting commercialization and working closely with industry.
SINTEF will develop and coordinate development of models for process design and optimization of the immersion cooling system combined with novel and highly efficient long-term heat storage.

DreVen SRL was founded on 2021 as a spin-out company from its mother company, DRAXIS Environmental S.A. DreVen provides advanced product exploitation and disseminates scientific results on state-of-the-art solutions for a wide range of sectors.
As leader of the Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation of the project, DreVen SRL will ensure the sustainability of the MODERATOR brand throughout the numerous project dissemination activities, maximizing its impact. The company is confident in promoting and communicating the projects importance and value to relevant stakeholders, ensuring its message resonates strongly. Additionally, DreVen SRL drives exploitation activities, contributing to the project's sustainability and durability of its outcomes.

OPHIOLITE AS (Honefoss, NORWAY)
Ophiolite AS was established in 2014, focusing on developing new technologies for upcycling recycled container glass. The company offers expertise in the design of circular materials and products, intellectual property rights management, and sustainable business model innovation.
As the leader in the development of multilayer insulation material for thermal energy storage in the MODERATOR project, Ophiolite will leverage its extensive expertise in component casting of expanded glass articles and refractive materials. The aim is to develop a highly efficient and sustainable multilayer insulation material, facilitating the seasonal storage of waste heat from data centers.

ITA S.A. (Athens, GREECE)
ITA Group is a Greek company founded in 1988. It is involved in projects related to renewable energy, combined heat and power (CHP) technology, desalination and in the agrifood sector. ITA Group is the holding company of Drama’s Greenhouses, Thermie Serres, Alfalfa Serres, Aeoliki Milou and M&S.
ITA Group has the role of identifying heat reutilization scenarios and end-users in MODERATOR project, as well as work on feasibility studies for selected cases. ITA is confident that great opportunities will be recognized for the MODERATOR technology. The company itself operates various facilities with heat demand at low-temperature levels (e.g. greenhouses, DHN) and has also conducted many engineering studies in the past that involve efficient heat utilization.

GEROSION EHF (Reykjavík, ICELAND)
Founded in 2014, Gerosion offers consultation, R&D services, as well as material testing and selection for clients in the geothermal, petroleum, and energy-intensive industries. The company focuses on developing next-generation materials and solutions that have a low environmental impact, while also utilizing waste streams from various sectors.
To support the MODERATOR project, Gerosion will ensure the materials selected are suited for long-term use by conducting accelerated corrosion and weathering tests. This rigorous testing process will enable the MODERATOR team to make data-driven decisions regarding material selection for optimal performance and durability.

ELECTRA (Athens, GREECE)
ELECTRA Energy, founded in 2016 in Athens (Greece), is a social cooperative working for the transition to a clean and democratic energy system with citizens and local communities at its core. Since 2016, ELECTRA is a member of RESCOOP.eu (European Federation of Energy Cooperatives) works closely with citizens and local communities, municipalities and regional governments, academic institutions, and national and international governmental organizations.
The main role of ELECTRA in the project will be the social impact assessment of the proposed technology and the development of exploitation strategies for local communities and social enterprises. ELECTRA will lead the assessment of social impacts and ESG strategy of MODERATOR. Drawing on extensive experience and specialized knowledge in crafting social impact toolkits, ELECTRA will facilitate the identification and development of user scenarios and definitions, focusing on the involvement of energy communities, municipalities, and civil society organizations. It will also lead the feasibility study of demand-side flexibility (DSF) for the proposed services on non-governmental organizations.

HSLU (Luzern, SWITZERLAND)
The Competence Centre Thermal Energy Storage (CC TES) from HSLU is the leading research partner for heat storage and temperature stability. The institution characterizes, optimizes and develops materials, components and systems for buildings, industry and energy supply. The Competence Centre of Thermal Energy Storage at HSLU brings expertise particularly in developing and optimizing phase change materials (PCMs) for efficient low-temperature heat recovery. HSLU team also contributes to designing advanced thermal insulation systems to minimize heat losses in the storage process. By integrating these innovations, we enhance the efficiency of the immersion cooling and long-term heat storage systems, supporting the project's goal of improving energy efficiency in data centers.

COWA (Luzern, SWITZERLAND)
Founded in 2019 as a spin-off from Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts by Remo Waser, Simon Maranda, and Jörg Worlitschek, Cowa Thermal Solutions AG is dedicated to achieving a commercial breakthrough in storage technologies based on phase change materials (PCM). With the market launch of their first product in 2023, they have reached a significant milestone that promises to further advance this innovative technology. The company’s field-proven, commercially available storage units, known for their leading storage density, have attracted numerous investors and partners who recognize the potential of this cutting-edge technology. Additionally, their wide range of melting temperatures allows for optimal adaptation to system design.
